What is IBM DB2? 

For those who don’t know, the name should say a lot.  IBM has been one of the most recognizable name in computing since the dawn of computational science.  Thus, “IBM DB2” is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that supports a wide variety of data types, including numeric, text, image, and video data. It is used by businesses of all sizes to store and manage data. 

IBM DB2 was first released in 1983 under the name “Database 2” (DB2). It was designed to replace the aging Database 1 (DB1) system, which was IBM’s first relational database management system. DB2 was designed from the ground up to be a more efficient and powerful RDBMS. 

How does IBM DB2 work? 

IBM DB2 stores data in tables, which are similar to folders in a file system. Tables are divided into columns and rows, and each cell in a table can contain a single value. Tables can be linked together through relationships, which allow data from one table to be accessed in another table. 

What are the benefits of using IBM DB2? 

There are many benefits to using IBM DB2, including its ease of use, flexibility, scalability, and performance. IBM DB2 is also very reliable and supports a wide variety of data types. 

There are a few drawbacks to using IBM DB2, including its cost and the fact that it is not as widely used as some other RDBMSs. 

In addition to industries such as banking, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, retail, and government, IBM DB2 can also be used for law enforcement or criminal record history information management.

How to Delete Records From a Database in IBM DB2

1. Open the IBM DB2 Command Line Processor.

2. Type the following command and press “Enter”:

db2 connect to [database name]

3. Type the following command and press “Enter”:

db2 delete from [table name] where [column name] = [value]

4. Type the following command and press “Enter”:

db2 commit
